Shelby has a way of settling into your heart. Maybe it’s the way folks still wave when you pass them on the road, or how a quick stop at Ingles somehow turns into a twenty-minute conversation about the weather, the Bulldogs, or somebody’s kitchen cabinets that finally gave up.

I’ve worked in homes near Uptown Shelby, out past Moss Lake, and toward Boiling Springs — and every house has its own story. Some go back generations, where grandparents remember when Earl Scruggs was still playing around town. Others are quieter neighborhoods where kids ride bikes until the streetlights come on. And of course, there are plenty of older ranch houses and mobile homes that have seen more DIY fixes than they’d ever admit.
